Defiance tells the story of four jewish brothers, who flee into the woods when the German Armed Forces invaded their village in Poland in 1941. They are disposed to fight as partisans against the german occupying forces and save their compatriots lives.
Soon, not only partisans but also other jewish refugees of the vicinity are harbored in the provisionary hideout. However, their accomodation into the resistance-group splits the brotherhood.
Meanwhile life in nature turns out to be very risky and threatening. Kostant danger to be spotted by the German occupying forces and local collaborators afflict the group seriously. Moreover hunger and the merciless winter’s cold torture the community. This time of revolt and resinstance becomes a touchstone for everybody…
