After having survived the Holocaust, the Jewish married couple Tobias is having a family in the in New York in the time of the sixties.
The base of this marriage is reason and the mutual wish of safety after the tragedy of the past.
During the following years the family is building up a toy shop.
One day, after the father forbad his oldest son Jake to move to another city and destroyed his hope of living together with his girl-friend as well as the carrere of a baseballplayer, Jake is shocking his parents by his intention to take part of the Vietnam War. At this moment, the biggest worry of the family is to hold him back.
Simultaneously, the family ís finding out that the first child of the wife probably did not die in a concentration camp.

The story is based on a true case and is reflecting the sensibility of its background.
