Albrecht Froben marries Octavia, the daughter of his uncle, after a round-the-world-trip. It is hard for him to be involved in this new family atmosphere. He gets to know the mytery Äls Flodéen, who has a withdrawn life in his neighbourhood. Octavia accepts a friendship with the attractive foreigner. Albrecht falls in love and migrates with Octavia to Düsseldorf. But Octavia realizes that Hamburg is her home and makes Albrecht to migrate back - where Ära is.
