Ten days before Robert A. Garwood could return to the USA in 1965 he is caught and imprisoned by the Vietcong. The souldiers are brutally mistreated in prison and loose hope. To survive Garwood messes about with the enemy, which is seen as treachery by his comrades. When Garwood is set free after 13 years and returns to America he gets accused of collaboration, degraded and dishonourably laid off.
