This documentary speaks out against American involvement in WWII. By showing the most appalling of wartime atrocities compiled from newsreel footage as well as feature films, the producers hoped to dissuade the powers-that-be from transforming the Youth of America into cannon fodder. If the film can be said to have any villains, they are the industrialists and munitions manufacturers who were purportedly pushing the United States towards the abyss. There is very little narration in the film; the producers were evidently secure in the belief that the images spoke for themselves. The effectiveness of "Horrors of War" is undercut by haphazard editing and the highly suspect "authenticity" of certain scenes.
