In this film militiamen are shown as logically thinking men. In one scene militiamen assault the convent San Juan de Dios de Barcelona and kill the religious people at the beach. Besides this fanatic Vision, intolerant people and criminals are shown. In one scene in a bar a militiaman gives a peace of sausage to a girl - at a time, in which a lot of people were hungry. The disagreement and missing disciplin between the militiamen can be seen in another scene: Official republicans and the bosses of the militia join together to develop a strategy and win at the front of teruel. One of the militiamen criticizes the lack of intervention to stop the rebells from the side of the republican forces. In his speach a republican is questioned. He is blamed for not having any discipline with the words "he talks like a fascist". In another scene the people's court looks like a fairground. The concept of the anticommunist crusade of Franco becomes clear and gets an international dimension through the following words: "It is a good service to free Europe from the unwanted revolutionarys."
