The plot of the movie is the friendship between Josemaría and Manolo. They get separated because of the disruption in Spain before the Civil War started. During the War, they choose different paths: Josemaría chooses the path of love and peace, becoming a priest and founding the Opus Dei in order to reconcile the Spanish society. Manolo chooses the path of violence and betrayal after he gets rejected by the beautiful revolutionary hungarian Ildiko.
