plot synopsis:
Gil Mezuman's documentary "Jenin Yoman Miluim" (Jenin Diary) chronicles what happens to a group of Israeli soldiers after a Palestinian attack that results in the death of 13 servicemen. The director, a member of the group that came under attack, interviews fellow soldiers as well as superior officers who question why reservists were stationed at the city rather than better trained soldiers. The interviews capture the churning emotions of the men who have seen horror and carnage.

remarks:
Gil Mezuman`s "Yoman Jenin" is often considered an answer to Bakri`s "Jenin, Jenin", as it takes a look on the incidents at the refugee camp from a different angle, the angle of the Israeli soldiers.
Contrasting the rumours of Israeli soldiers committing massacres on Palestinian civlians, Mezumans film draws the attention to the fact that in Jenin the soldiers too, became victims, as many of them were reservists, who kept asking themselves "Why are we here?".
Mezuman`s pictures are off significant importance, as they seem to be the only closeup views on this battle. The Israeli censors insisted on only minor alterations.
