This documentary deals with the turning point of World War I: the battle at Verdun. During the fighting, that took from february to december 1916, an until then unknown extent of cruelty was reached. Even 90 years later the scars in the landscape, caused by the battle, can still be recognized. In this documentary historicans and Verdun specialists work up the "myth of Verdun" and show that the brutal battle between France and Germany can be seen as a turning point in history.
