plot synopsis:
The film deals with Rene, a warrior-monk of the Knights Templar. His mission to protect christian pilgrims turns into a fight for power, wealth and influence. His disillusion about the superiors grows. He nearly dies in the battle fought at the horns of Hattin in 1187. Most of the christian army gets killed. Rene is taken as prisoner, but he is abled to escape and flees into the desert. Hasan, a Muslim traveler saves him from starvation. They hide in an isolated oasis, where Soheila, the widow of a muslim nurses the wounded Rene.
