Bill Roberts works as an american newspaper correspondent in Berlin where he uses his work to pass on military failures of the german army on to his newspaper by using coded words. The german Gestapo-officer Captain von Rau asks his fiancee Karen Hauen to investigate, how these secrets are leaked outside the country. She finds Roberts and by flirting she is able to make him tell on his secret source. She passes this information on to von Rau, but later realizes that the leak was actually her father, Rudolf Hauen. She then has a change of mind and, after falling mutually in love with Roberts, they are able to rescue Hauen from the german Nazi-psychiatry. The intrigue of Cpt. von Rau later backfires on him and he dies while Hauen, Roberts and Karen are able to flee the country.
