plot synopsis:
After the German capitulation in May 1945 the fighting in the Pacific goes on. World War II is not yet over. The Americans attack Japanese islands like Okinawa. But the Japaneses soldiers are supposed to die as heroes, this is why they are a strond resistance. In July 1945 the Japaneses refuse to sign their capitulation. Truman starts to think about to use the atomic bomb, that had just been made ready. The film consists of two parts. The first one deals with the bulding of the atomic bomb and the diplomatic deals between the war enemies. The second one shows the attack on Nagasaki with the atomic bomb. This attack was followed by the capitulation of Japan.
