plot synopsis:
After the battle of Stalingrad Dr. Böhler, captain in the medical corps, is taken prioner by the Russians. He is send to POW-camp 5110/47 next to Stalingrad, expecting to spend years behind barded wire. With the most primitiv means Böhlers tries to his follow POWs. His selflessness earns him the respect of friends and enemies. Eventually his courageous commitment even gains him the respect of Russian camp commander.
