The film “Trümmermädchen” deals with the role of women in the post-war period.
The plot revolves around the character of Charlotte Schumann (Laura Balzer), who was impregnated by Ludwig (Henning Flüsloh), a returnee from the war. However, Ludwig shows no interest in Charlotte or the unborn child. Because of this, Charlotte joins the “Fräuleinkurs” group. The course is led by the actress Gloria Deven (Valery Tscheplanowa) and the sessions take place in the Porto Theater. The sessions bring together young girls in which Gloria Deven teaches them how to win men over. However, Gloria Deven's real aim is to strengthen the emancipation of women and make the young girls independent of men.
In the first session, the young girls are taught that men have abolished the matriarchy in order to objectify women. They are also taught that control over lust leads to power.
The film addresses the self-empowerment of young women against the backdrop of the post-war period and acts as a plea for cohesion.
