plot synopsis:
Veit Harlan, director and star of the Third Reich, comes in 1949 in Hambourg to court. He is charged with a crime against humanity because of his film "Jud Süß". 20 million Germans saw the movie, which agitates against Jews. For members of the regime this movie was a duty. After a great career in the Third Reich, Harlan denies all responsibility and points at Goebbels, the head of German film. The documentary asks the question of responsibility and guilt. Film sequences and interviews are supported by acted scenes from the court.
