plot synopsis:
The american slave Django is bought and granted liberty by the german bounty-hunter Dr. King Schultz to aid him with bounty-hunting. After being liberated, Django works with him and they try to free Djangos wife Broomhilda, who is property of the narcisistic pseudo-dandy Calvin Candie, a huge mandingo-enthusiast, a sports in which black slaves have to fight each other brutally. To trick Candie, Django and Schultz pretend they want to buy a mandingo-slave in order to obtain Broomhilda, but Candies slave Stephen, a slave observing and punishing other slaves, realizes this and the two bounty-hunters have to pay a ridiculously high price for Broomhilda. After signing the treaty, Candie insists on a humiliating handshake with Dr. Schultz, who instead shoots Candie and is shot in reverse. Django is captured but can ultimately free himself and returns to avenge Dr. Schultz and rescue his wife.
