This documentary consists of six parts. Part one , "Die Mobilmachung", deals with the year 1939 and the beginning of World War II. In part two, "Die Volksgemeinschaft", you can see how the German people hold together just because of propaganda. Part three, "Die Arbeitsschlacht", shows the difference between the supplying of the troops shown in the media and the true suffering at the front. In part four, "Die Familien", the effect of the war on the families is documented. Part fife, "Der Terror", shows how terror and punishment spread over Germany, from deporting Jews to killing political enemies. And part six, "Der Zusammenbruch", deals with the end of World war II and the German failure. The several parts of the documentary are each made by different directors.
