This documentary deals with the destiny of 20.000 Jews, who had to flee from Germany and Austria to Shanghai in the 1930s. Just there immigration without visa was possible. The film team joins Horst Eisfelder on his way back to Shanghai, nearly seven decades after his escape. Since 1947 he lives in Australia and now returns to the country of his exile for the first time. On this journey to his past he meets old friends, visits his old home and shows photos of huge documentary importance, because it was not allowed to take pictures. The film remembers the 20.000 Jews, who could save their lifes in Shanghai.
