After years under facist occupation the Albanian population suffers unemployment and hunger. Nebi Surreli too, hardly knows how to keep himself alive and is desperately looking for a way out. he solwly begins to understand that begging and prayng will not change his situation. Comrades of the Party encourage him to take over at first small and than more important tasks. The more Nebi becomes active, the more he regains his convidence and almost feels reborn.
