Lilo Labe, a young partisan, is severly injured during a skirmish with German troops. Four comrades, Kabo, Jaho, the Italian nurse Peliceli und the young Zeneli have to carry her on a stretcher to the next field hostipal. The dissimilar team, each preoccupied with his own worries, finally reaches the hospital after a number of quarrals. In spring their battalion returns to the hospital to pick up their comrade again.
