German engeneer Hagen is chief of a big company in Southafrica, as he gets the note that World War I has started. He decides to travel back to Germany immediately to register himself as volunteer in the army. In the streets explode some fights in which Hagen´s friend Brack is involved, too. When Hagen tries to help him, he gets badly injured by a knife. As he wakes up, he finds himself in the house of Manuela Ortiguez, the young owner of the company he works for.
